she used to be my girl

she used to be down with me
she used to be a freak for me

We used to hold hands
she used to understand
she used to get down with me
she used to take trips with me
she used to wiggle her hips for me
she used to lick her lips for me
she used to
she used to
she used to
she used to

nostalgia...

is a terrible disease. it engulfs you. and gives meaning to certain moments. obsessions

so what is it about nostalgia that we are seduced with ? is it the obvious irrecoverable nature of the past that hightens the emotional impact. is it the inaccessibility that turns us ON.

my homeboy doc brown is working on the whole accesible thing-->

i guess being aware of the powers of nostalgia. is the first step towards recovery. looking back at moments that are locked in our heads.  you understand how the mind embeleshes moments. and so begins the questions

was the shoulder of my late mother really the most comfortable place i've ever laid my head?

was the sky as dark as i remembered on the day of her burial?

was hiphop really as good as it was in the mid 90s?

did the lips of a lost lover taste as sweet as they did a few years ago?

(it's the questions yall)

nostalgia makes the idealized past into something tangible almost authentic. and for no other reason then the geto boys song 'mind playing tricks on me' is this a dangerous game.
